It’s A Norfolk Christmas Jumper Day At Walsham Grange Care Home

Did You Have a Norfolk Christmas Jumper Day? We Did!

Here in Norfolk this year at our lovely Walsham Grange Care Home, we put on our festive jumpers to support Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day. Three charities, Macmillan, Make A Wish and Save the Children benefit from the money we raised on the day.

In case you’re new to the event it’s a national day that happens every year in the UK, everyone is encouraged to join in by wearing a festive jumper and donate at least £1.

The first ever Christmas Jumper Day started in December 2012, so it’s still relatively new as national days go. We’re not sure when the first ever Norfolk Christmas Jumper Day happened, if you know then please tell us.

Some of the jumpers worn were knitting masterpieces, they were originals, but then there were others that were just over the top, we won’t mention any names!

The day started at 10.30am when we all got together for tea and biscuits, soon after that, there was a bit of a rush because the Christmas pantomime had started and everyone wanted the seats right at the front.

It’s always fun shouting out “He’s behind you” whatever age you are!

After the excitement of the panto, we had a lovely traditional Christmas lunch, followed by mulled wine and mince pies.

It didn’t stop there, as a few of us started to get a bit too cosy Bob, who was the star of the show arrived for a Christmas sing-a-long. Before you knew it we were all clapping our hands, stamping our feet and we were completely wide awake again, singing along to some of our all time favourites.

A Christmas party is only a proper Christmas party when it has a raffle! We all love a raffle, and we all secretly hope to be the winner but this year the winner was one of our receptionist with a very lucky ticket number, which we now can’t remember! We all agree that not remembering the ticket number is probably best or we’d be fighting over it next year!

As well as the raffle there were stalls selling Christmas Bric and Brac, along with a tombola, all of which raised funds. The money raised goes back in the residents activities fund at Walsham Grange so we can have plenty of great activity days, not just at Christmas but all year round.

We also had a Christmas party at The Limes Care Home in Hellesdon, Norwich, this one was slightly more relaxed than Walsham Grange but just as fun!

Book a visit at one of our care homes, we’d love to show you round and introduce you to the team
